Giving money to obtain a job is a bribe and is not permissible, unless the job is due to the person giving the money, in that he is the most deserving of it and cannot obtain it except by that means. A strong presumption is sufficient for this. The sin then falls upon the one who takes the money, not upon the one who gives it, because a bribe is what is paid to invalidate a right or establish a falsehood. As for what is given to obtain a right or repel injustice, it is permissible.
