What are the rulings concerning a Khulʿ that occurred three years ago during the period of post-natal bleeding (nifās)? Is there a possibility of returning to the husband after communication has ceased, taking into consideration feelings of regret and repentance?

Khul' is the separation of a husband from his wife in return for compensation. It is an irrevocable divorce, after which the man cannot take his divorced wife back except with a new contract and a new Mahr. It is permissible to carry it out even if the wife is menstruating or in postpartum bleeding. The waiting period ('iddah (definition)) for the woman in this case is: upon delivery if she is pregnant, or three menstrual cycles if she is not pregnant but menstruates, and three months for those who do not menstruate due to young age or old age. She may marry after her 'iddah. If the woman desires to marry her first husband, there is no harm in her proposing that to him. If he agrees, her guardian should عقد (contract) for her in the presence of two just witnesses.
