How can a marriage concluded without the guardian's consent be rectified, whether after years and having children, or after the parents' subsequent approval?

Marriage of a woman without a guardian (wali) is invalid, and the contract must be re-executed with the guardian's consent, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no marriage without a guardian and two witnesses." Both spouses must repent to Allah for what they have done.
