Is it true that Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib said: "Inhale the scent of narcissus at least once a year, for there is a state in the heart that only narcissus can remove"?
The aforementioned narration attributed to Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding smelling narcissus has no chain of transmission (isnad) nor any basis in the authenticated books of Sunnah. It is not permissible to attribute it to him. As for the hadith narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him) about smelling narcissus, it is a rejected, fabricated, and false hadith, falsely attributed to him and to Ali ibn Abi Talib. It is not permissible to disseminate it or attribute it to either of them.
