The answer

There is no basis for the hadith: "How astonishing! Quraysh accuse me of madness, yet I catch a cold twice a month!" or "How can I be mad when I catch a cold twice a year?!" The clumsiness of its wording and meaning indicates its falsehood. The intellect of a wise person is known by their composure and the quality of their thinking, not by sneezing or catching a cold. The Prophet is known by his miracles and the truthfulness of his message. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was the most intelligent and sagacious of people, and his management of affairs and his personality demonstrate the soundness of his intellect. Wahb ibn Munabbih agreed that he had read in 71 books and found in them that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was the most intelligent of people and the best in judgment.
