The answer

It is not permissible to combine two prayers out of fear of forgetting or being outside the home, for prayer is a great matter and a believer's heart should be attached to it. Modern means can be used to remind one of prayer times. If a person forgets a prayer, he must pray it whenever he remembers it, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever forgets a prayer, let him pray it when he remembers it; there is no expiation for it except that. (And establish prayer for My remembrance)."

There is no problem in performing prayer outside the home in any pure place, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The earth has been made for me a mosque and a means of purification. So, any man from my Ummah whom prayer overtakes, let him pray." Prayer is the pillar of Islam and its greatest pillar after the two testimonies of faith. Allah has commanded its preservation and warned those who are negligent in performing it, as in His Almighty saying: "Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a book [to be observed at] fixed times" and "So woe to those who pray, [but] who are heedless of their prayer." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned that the most beloved deed to Allah is: "Prayer at its appointed time," and that "Whoever misses the 'Asr prayer, his deed has been rendered void." If studying abroad leads to neglecting prayer, then there is no good in it. A condition for the permissibility of residing abroad is that a Muslim can openly practice his religion and adhere to it.
