What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a daughter distancing herself from her mother—who is characterized by ill manners and transgression against others—by moving to live in a separate home, while maintaining weekly visits, out of fear of Allah's wrath and disobedience to parents?

There is no doubt that a disobedient mother must repent of her sins. However, no matter how great her sins, they do not justify disobeying her, for a child is commanded to honor his parents, even if they are polytheists. The questioner must be patient with her mother, honor her, obey her in what is good, strive for her guidance, advise her, and seek help from those who have influence over her. Financial support is not obligatory for her as long as she is not in need, and she is not obligated to give her anything from her salary. However, she should not be prevented from eating from the food, especially if that would hurt her feelings. Among the acts of obedience is staying with her in the house when she needs it, unless staying leads to a greater harm such as quarrels. In this case, she can leave the house while being keen to visit her and check on her, knowing that a woman living alone entails many risks.
