Is expiation obligatory for one who swore an oath not to take a certain item, then this item was given to him without his knowledge?
Such an oath, where a person swears by someone whom he believes will not contradict him if he emphasizes the oath and will not cause him to break it, does not require expiation according to the view of Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah.
