Is expiation obligatory for someone who swore not to carry his friend's bag, but then the friend carried it after a while?

Scholars differed regarding the obligation of expiation upon one who swore not to carry his friend's bag, intending not to obligate him but to honor him. Ibn Taymiyyah favored the view that expiation is not obligatory. If the reason for the oath ceases to exist—such as the friend no longer being tired—then there is no breach of the oath. It is preferable to give expiation as a precaution and to avoid scholarly disagreement.
