Is the inspiration that comes to a person's mind, such as an idea or remembering the answer to a question on an exam, from God or is it merely personal reflection?

Inspiration (Ilham) is the casting of a meaning or a command into the heart from Allah, which incites one to action or to abstention. Allah bestows it upon some of His chosen servants. However, it is not a legal proof (hujjah shar'iyyah) unless it aligns with the Sacred Law (Shari'ah). Inspiration may originate from Allah, from Satan, or from one's inner thoughts (hadith al-nafs). Inspiration is a type of miraculous favor (karamah), and it differs from recalling the answer to an exam question, as the latter is a process of thinking and retrieving what is already within one's mind. Allah provides sustenance to whomever He wills in this world, whether they are believers or disobedient, according to His general will and decree.
