Will a person be held accountable for internal thoughts if they are deliberate and stem from an ill omen, and what is meant by "acting accordingly"?
"The whispering of the self ( al-nafs) regarding a sin is forgiven if it is merely a fleeting thought and one does not act upon it. However, commencing the sin is recorded, and likewise, the firm resolve to commit it is recorded as a bad deed. Persistence and firm resolve (to sin) are a disobedience recorded as a bad deed. If one then commits the sin, it is recorded as a second disobedience. If one abandons it out of fear of Allah, it is recorded as a good deed. Fleeting thoughts that one does not dwell upon are not recorded. The accountability for a firm, settled intention of the heart is indicated by the texts of Islamic law."
