Is it permissible for a Muslim to attend parties where alcohol is served without drinking it, and is it obligatory for me to obey my leader in attending these parties?

A Muslim must avoid attending parties where intoxicants and evil acts are present, because Allah Almighty has forbidden sitting with wrongdoers after being reminded of the prohibition. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day does not sit at a table where intoxicants are circulated. Furthermore, Allah will question the servant on the Day of Judgment about what prevented him from enjoining against evil if he witnessed it. Sitting in gatherings of evil and remaining silent about it negatively impacts the heart of a believer.
