Is it permissible for a husband to punish his wife and children by withholding their financial support, given that they have committed no sin, and the reason for this is his second wife, taking into consideration the husband's comfortable financial situation and the psychological impact of the father's treatment on the children?

A husband must spend on his wife and children who have no money. This expenditure does not cease except for a legitimate reason, such as the wife's insubordination (nushooz), or the son reaching puberty and being able to earn a living, which is a point of contention. Withholding maintenance is an injustice, and the wife has the right to take from his money an amount sufficient for her and her child's maintenance without his knowledge. The father should be advised gently and reminded of his responsibility before Allah. The second wife who sows discord should be warned that her actions resemble those of sorcerers and devils in causing separation between people.
