What is the ruling on joining a military job that requires shaving the beard, knowing that the nature of the specialization necessitates working in this field?
It is forbidden for a man to shave his beard, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) command to let it grow and to differ from the polytheists and the Zoroastrians. If the offered jobs require trimming the beard, then it is better to stay away from them. Whoever gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better, for Allah says: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him." (Quran 65:2-3). Indeed, one's religion is his capital, and the loser is he who loses himself and his family on the Day of Resurrection. Therefore, one must seek another job to preserve his religion.
