What is the تخريج (authentication and referencing) of the narrations from Ibn Mas'ud and Ibn 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both: "Whoever wishes to follow a path, let him follow the path of those who have died, those are the Companions of Muhammad..." and the saying of Imam Al-Shafi'i, may Allah have mercy on him: "They are above us in every knowledge, intellect, and religion..."? And can it be found in the book "Usul al-Hukm 'ala al-Mubtadi'ah" (Principles of Ruling on Innovators)?

The narration from Ibn Mas'ud was deemed weak by Sheikh Al-Albani due to the discontinuity in its chain of transmission between Qatadah and Ibn Mas'ud. The narration from Ibn Umar was deemed weak by Al-Bukhari and Abu Hatim. However, emulating the Companions is an agreed-upon matter, supported by the Almighty's saying: "So if they believe in the same as you have believed in, then they have been guided." Many scholars, such as Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Al-Qayyim, Al-Baghawi, and Al-Shanqeeti, have used this meaning as an argument. The statement of Al-Shafi'i, which he mentioned in "Al-Risala," is correct.
