Is what the Shaykh said true: that a father is not to be punished for physically harming his daughter, on the pretext that the son and his wealth belong to his father, and that the girl deserves punishment for complaining and imprisoning her father?

You must know that your religion is too precious for you to let it be dependent on the good or bad deeds of others; you must hold fast to it. The harm and damage inflicted by your father is a great evil and clear injustice, not a permissible form of discipline under Islamic law; rather, it is a crime that warrants ta'zeer (discretionary punishment). A man harming his family and children without right is among the sins that require expiation. What the ignorant shaykh mentioned, that a father is not held accountable for such actions, has no basis. A father is subject to ta'zeer and punishment in this world. Regarding the issue of qisas (retaliation), the preponderant opinion is that if a father intentionally kills his child, he is to be killed in return. The hadith "You and your wealth belong to your father" indicates the permissibility of taking from a child's wealth within the bounds of need, not the permissibility of aggression against him. It is not permissible for a father to do what your father did, such as beating or harming, and he deserves punishment for it. A child has the right to complain about his father, and this is not considered disobedience to parents. Our advice to you is to be patient and seek reward from Allah, and beware of neglecting prayer, for it is a great pillar of Islam.
