Is it obligatory to make up missed prayers after sincere repentance for one who initially abandoned them due to waswas (obsessive whispering) and then intentionally, and what is the meaning of: "And indeed, I am forgiving to whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then is guided?"

Praise be to Allah, who has guided you to repentance, and we ask Him to make you steadfast upon it. Know that abandoning prayer due to whispers (waswas) is a grave evil, so beware of giving in to them, lest they lead you to abandon prayer in the future.

Scholars have differed regarding the obligation of making up missed prayers for one who intentionally abandoned them. The majority of scholars hold that making them up is obligatory, which is the most cautious and safest opinion, and it is the fatwa given by us. Therefore, you must make up the prayers you missed due to waswas or anything else, if you had reached puberty at that time.

As for the interpretation of the verse: "And indeed, I am the Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then is guided," it means that Allah forgives whoever repents from polytheism, believes in Allah, performs righteous deeds, and continues upon that until death.
