What is the authenticity of the hadith: "Give the laborer his due before his sweat dries," and what is its alternative in the Qur'an or Sunnah if it is not authentic?

This hadith has numerous chains of transmission, all of which are weak, as stated by Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar and Ibn Al-Mulaqqin. However, some scholars, including Al-Hafiz Al-Mundhiri, Al-Busiri, Al-Albani, and Shu'ayb Al-Arna'ut, have deemed it good (hasan) or strong due to the multiplicity of its chains. More authentic than it is the hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Three types of people will have me as their adversary on the Day of Resurrection: a man who gives a pledge in My Name and then betrays it; a man who sells a free person (as a slave) and consumes his price; and a man who hires a laborer, makes full use of his labor, but does not pay him his wages," narrated by Al-Bukhari. The Holy Quran also emphasizes fulfilling contracts and delivering trusts.
