Is it obligatory to offer four expiations for a false oath, threatening one's wife with divorce without intention, having intercourse with her before performing ghusl, and breaking an oath not to return to something repeatedly done? And is the expiation for an oath to be repeated or is it a single one? And can the expiations be given to one person daily, or must each expiation be given separately?

Swearing by Allah falsely is called an al-Ghamus oath (a

perjurious oath). There is no expiation for it according to the majority of scholars. Threatening one's wife with divorce if she does such-and-such results in divorce according to the majority, while some obligate an expiation for an oath. Intercourse with one's wife before she purifies herself from menstruation is not permissible, and one must seek forgiveness and repent. There is no specific expiation for it according to the majority. Breaking an oath sworn by Allah necessitates an expiation for an oath: feeding ten poor persons, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. If one cannot find any of these, then fasting for three days. A single expiation suffices for repeated breaking of an oath concerning one act or its omission. However, for expiations of multiple types, a single expiation is not sufficient. It is not permissible to give the expiation to fewer than ten poor persons, nor to give the ten more than one expiation in a single day.
