Is the Duha Prayer performed consecutively, or is it permissible to separate its rak'ahs over periods?

The Duha prayer is a Sunnah (definition). Its minimum is two rak'ahs, and its maximum is eight rak'ahs according to the people of knowledge, while some say twelve rak'ahs. It is not a condition that the rak'ahs exceeding two be continuous, but it is preferable for them to be continuous, following the practice of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. It is among the desirable acts from which a person performs as much as they are able.
