Does a divorce take effect when a husband says: "You are divorced," and then affirms it by saying: "I meant by it the divorce of the night"?

The husband's statement, "You are divorced," does not constitute another divorce if he intended it as an
announcement of the divorce that occurred at night. If three divorces have not been completed, the
husband may take his wife back during her 'iddah (waiting period), and reconciliation occurs as
explained in Fatwa No. 61698. Divorce is Islamically disliked and should not be resorted to with
every disagreement. If the spouses can live together amicably and overlook minor faults, that is
preferable to separation. If a revocable divorce has occurred and reconciliation is possible,
returning is preferable and better.
