Is it obligatory for a woman observing her iddah to remain in her home, neither leaving it nor visiting anyone?
An iddah-observing woman is not permitted to leave her marital home, nor is her husband permitted to expel her from it, based on the Almighty’s saying: ﴿Do not expel them from their homes, nor should they leave, unless they commit a clear immorality.﴾ This is unless there is an excuse. It is permissible for her to leave for a need or a legitimate necessity, but she must return and spend the night in her home. As for the man mentioned, if what was stated about him is proven, then he has committed reprehensible acts and grave sins. It is incumbent upon anyone who becomes aware of this to remind him of Allah and of the grave consequences of his actions. There is no harm in threatening him with reporting him to someone who can deter him.
