Is it permissible for a needy person experiencing severe financial hardship, who is striving to earn a lawful livelihood, to utilize usurious money until Allah eases his situation, and then donate the equivalent of what he utilized?

There is no harm for the needy poor to accept from ill-gotten wealth an amount commensurate with their need, for it is a disbursement for the poor and the destitute. Al-Ghazali mentioned that the poor person may give charity to himself and his family from ill-gotten wealth if he is poor, and this was supported by An-Nawawi, who narrated it from the Salaf. Likewise, Ibn Taymiyyah said that the poor person may consume ill-gotten wealth taken with the giver's consent, and that if he is poor, he may take what suffices him.
