Returning to the husband's home and obeying him is obligatory upon the wife. What the mother asks for is not a legitimate right upon the husband. Therefore, obedience to the mother in this matter is not binding. The wife must be gentle with her mother and explain the religious ruling to her, and that her actions could lead to the deterioration of the marital relationship.
