It is not the husband's right to force his wife to visit his family, especially if they mistreat her. Therefore, the husband must strive to mend the relationship between his mother and his wife with wisdom and tact, and it is permissible to convey words that bring affection between them, for one who reconciles between people is not a liar. Remind your wife of the virtue of forgiveness and kindness. If she refuses to go, do not be harsh with her, and strive yourself to honor your mother, and supplicate frequently.
