What is the interpretation of Ayatul Kursi according to Tafsir Ibn Kathir?

Ibn Kathir mentioned that Ayat al-Kursī is the greatest verse in the Quran, that it contains Allah’s Greatest Name (Ism Allāh al-Aʿẓam), protects its reciter, and that it comprises ten independent clauses:

1. (Allāh! There is no god but He): This signifies Allah’s uniqueness in divinity.

2. (The Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence): He is ever-living, never dying, and sustains others, with everything dependent on Him.

3. (Neither slumber overtakes Him nor sleep): He is not afflicted by imperfection, heedlessness, or absent-mindedness; He sustains His creation, with nothing escaping His notice.

4. (To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth): Everything is His possession and under His authority.

5. (Who is there that can intercede with Him except by His permission?): No one can intercede except by His permission, due to His greatness and majesty.

6. (He knows what is before them and what will be behind them): His knowledge encompasses all beings in the past, present, and future.

7. (And they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills): No one gains access to His knowledge except by what Allah informs them of.

8. (His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth): The Kursī (Throne) is the place of Allah’s feet, and it is exceedingly mighty.

9. (And never does guarding them tire Him): Preserving the heavens and the earth and what is in them does not burden or weary Him.

10. (And He is the Most High, the Most Great): He is High in His essence and power, overpowering everything, and there is no lord besides Him.

These verses must be transmitted as they were revealed, without interpretation (takyeef) or resemblance (tashbeeh).
