A: Abu Sufyan embraced Islam in the year of the Conquest of Mecca, in of the eighth year, when the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, invited him to Islam, and he accepted. As for his dialogue with Heraclius, the Emperor of Rome, it occurred before the Conquest of Mecca, during the period of truce between the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the disbelievers of Quraysh. This was when the Prophet sent a letter to Heraclius inviting him to Islam. Heraclius then inquired about the Prophet and the people closest to him, so Abu Sufyan was summoned and questioned about the Prophet. This happened before Abu Sufyan embraced Islam.
