How can we reconcile the fact that deeds are preordained in eternity, and that supplication does not change what is written in the Preserved Tablet, with the command to supplicate and its being answered, and the existence of divine commands and prohibitions, as well as the command to choose a spouse in marriage, despite the spouse being preordained? And do touch (possession) and magic have an effect on whispering doubts about the divine essence?

Supplication is one of the most powerful means of realizing divine decrees. What is decreed is decreed through means, and supplication is one of them. When a servant employs the means, the decree comes to pass. Reason, scripture, innate human disposition (fitra), and the experiences of nations all indicate that drawing near to Allah, and being righteous and benevolent towards His creation, are among the greatest means of attracting good and repelling evil. Regarding the integration of divine decree and religious law (Sharia), Allah has decreed matters with means, among which are a person's choice and effort, just as He has decreed provision for him through his effort and work. We advise you to supplicate, humble yourself, turn away from obsessive thoughts, consult a trusted psychiatrist, and be patient and seek reward from Allah when afflicted by touch or magic.
