Does the intercession of a martyr for seventy of his relatives entail their removal from Hellfire, or the raising of their ranks in Paradise? And is it possible for them to enter the highest Firdaws with him?

It is reported that the martyr intercedes for seventy of his family members, and he has six special merits: he is forgiven with the first gush of blood, he sees his place in Paradise, he is protected from the torment of the grave, he is safe from the Great Terror, a crown of dignity is placed on his head, he is married to seventy-two houris (maidens of Paradise), and he intercedes for seventy of his relatives.

The martyr's intercession for his relatives does not benefit disbelievers among them, as Allah Almighty says: {So the intercession of intercessors will not benefit them} (74:48). The martyr may intercede in some types of intercession in which others besides the prophets participate, such as: bringing people out of the Fire, and raising degrees in Paradise.

Scholars have mentioned five types of intercession:

1. Intercession for the Gathering (expediting the reckoning): This is exclusive to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). 2. Admitting people to Paradise without reckoning: This is exclusive to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). 3. Intercession for those who deserved the Fire: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and whomever Allah wills will intercede in this. 4. Intercession for those monotheists who entered the Fire due to their sins: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the angels, and the believers will intercede in this. 5. Increasing the degrees in Paradise for its inhabitants: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and others will intercede in this.
