What is the ruling on paying university fees that include an amount for life and health insurance, knowing that insurance is prohibited?

Commercial insurance is impermissible because it involves gharar (excessive uncertainty) and jahalah (ignorance regarding the exact nature or outcome of the contract). However, if you are compelled to engage in it, and find no way to avoid it, and there is no other cooperative insurance available, then we hope there will be no sin upon you, based on the Almighty's saying: "But whoever is forced, neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." (Al-Baqarah: 173). If an opportunity arises to free yourself from it, then that becomes obligatory.
