Why do we say "The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said" when narrating hadiths, while the description of praying upon him includes "the Family"?
Praying upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has various forms, the best of which includes his family (Ahl al-Bayt), such as saying: "O Allah, bless Muhammad and his wives and his offspring, as You have blessed the family of Abraham, and bestow Your graces upon Muhammad and his wives and his offspring, as You have bestowed Your graces upon the family of Abraham, You are indeed Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory."
Even though this form is the best, other forms are permissible, and one earns reward by praying upon him with them. This applies outside of prayer.
As for within the prayer, it is important to pay attention to it in the , due to those who say that praying upon the family (Ahl al-Bayt) is obligatory. It is to pray upon the family in the final Tashahhud, and some say it is obligatory therein, and the matter implies obligation.
