There are two meanings for : The first is covering the entire body except for the face and hands. This is obligatory by scholarly consensus, and the sin of the wife intensifies if her husband commands her to wear it and she disobeys him. The husband must obligate his wife to wear it. The second is covering the face and hands. This is a point of contention among jurists, and the preponderant opinion according to us is its obligation, but the matter is less stringent than the former.
