Does that which emerges from the front private part in the form of air bubbles or minor things invalidate ablution, or is it necessary to hear a sound or smell an odor to be certain?

Scholars differed regarding the invalidation of ablution by the emission of wind from the front private part (qabul). The Hanafis and Malikis held that it does not invalidate ablution due to the absence of explicit textual evidence. The Shafi'is and Hanbalis, however, maintained that it does invalidate ablution, based on the general import of the hadith: "There is no ablution except from a sound or a wind," and by analogy with all other things that exit from the two private parts. This latter opinion is more cautious and closer to the evidence. Ablution is only invalidated by certainty of the emission of wind, and mere doubt or conjecture does not harm, because certainty is not removed by doubt.
