The answer

Fasting Ramadan is obligatory upon every accountable, able, resident Muslim. It is not permissible to intentionally break the fast without a legitimate Shar'i excuse, such as illness or travel. It is also not permissible to obey one's husband in breaking the fast without an excuse, because there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator. If you intended to fast, but then experienced severe hardship that you feared would cause harm, it is permissible for you to break your fast and make up for the days you missed.
