If a woman in postpartum bleeding (nifas) becomes pure upon seeing the white discharge (al-qassah al-bayda') or dryness (al-jufuf), she must perform ghusl (ritual bath), pray, and fast. It is recommended for her husband not to have intercourse with her until the forty nights have passed.
