Is it permissible for a woman to be with a doctor without a mahram?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is permissible for a woman to undergo a medical examination with a male doctor who is not a mahram (unmarriageable kin) if there is a need or necessity, such as the absence of a female doctor or her lack of specialization in the illness. This is permissible provided that a mahram or the husband is present, due to the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "No man should be alone with a woman unless she has a mahram with her," and "No one of you should be alone with a woman, for Satan is the third of them."
