What is the ruling on lending; i.e., giving money to another as a debt inside the mosque?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade buying and selling and announcing lost property in the mosque, because these actions contradict the purpose for which mosques were built, which is prayer, remembrance (dhikr), and acts of righteousness. Acts of righteousness are permissible therein, such as giving charity, collecting donations, lending money, and demanding repayment of debts. Litigation is permissible therein because it preserves wealth. As for buying and selling in the mosque, it is a pursuit of acquiring wealth and turns the mosque into a worldly market, whereas mosques were built for matters of the Hereafter.
