A Muslim must seek the correct belief that saves him from the misguided sects and adhere to the belief of the Ashab al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah (People of the Sunnah and the Community). If the questioner and those with him repent sincerely from this disobedience, there is no harm in their marriage, and they should strive to perform righteous deeds. What was narrated from Omar ibn al-Khattab regarding the prohibition of marrying a woman with whom one committed fornication, or a man who committed fornication with her, it appears that this was a form of disciplinary punishment for those who committed the sin, and not a permanent legal prohibition. It applies to those who have not repented.
