Is it permissible to use three-dimensional (cartoony, robotic, or semi-realistic) characters with a head and an upper body to interact with users in chat programs, knowing that these characters are not designed or drawn by us but rather their design is commissioned from a non-Muslim third party, and our program animates them and their mouths along with speech? And is it permissible to use a full-bodied character in such cases? And is it permissible to use a female character? And in the event that it is not permissible, is it permissible to complete a project for which a contract has been entered into?

Electronic drawing and digital images of animate beings are a matter of scholarly disagreement, with the more probable opinion being permissibility, so there is no problem in designing or using them. According to those who deem it impermissible, it is permissible to limit the drawing to the head and chest without the abdomen, because such a creation is ناقصة الخلقة (incomplete in creation) to an extent that life is not possible with it. "If a part is cut off from it such that the animal cannot survive after its removal, like its chest or abdomen, or if its head is made separate from its body, it does not fall under the prohibition." As for using an imaginary female image, it is not forbidden unless it incites desires or causes temptation.
