How can one reconcile the Hadith: "The prophets did not bequeath dinars or dirhams, rather they bequeathed knowledge," or "What the prophets left behind was charity," with the Almighty's saying: "And Solomon inherited David," given that David's inheritance might include both governance and wealth?

The Prophets do not bequeath wealth, rather they bequeath knowledge, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, the scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets. And indeed, the Prophets did not bequeath dinars or dirhams, but they bequeathed knowledge. So whoever takes it has taken an abundant share."

Therefore, the wealth that Dawud (peace be upon him) left behind was not inherited by Sulayman or anyone else; rather, it remained as charity. The meaning of Allah Almighty's saying: {And Sulayman inherited Dawud} [An-Naml: 16] is the inheritance of prophethood and knowledge. If it were an inheritance of wealth, his brothers would have shared in it, and there would have been no great benefit in reporting it, since the inheritance of a son from his father is a known matter.

This noble Hadith confirms this: "We, the company of Prophets, do not bequeath; what we leave behind is charity."
