Is one held accountable for wishing for death without contemplating suicide, such as dying by the decree and destiny of Allah, and does this differ from contemplating suicide?

The calamity of losing a father is immense, but it is a trial from Allah. One must be patient and seek reward from Allah, and dedicate effort to performing righteous deeds whose reward will reach the father. Wishing for death is forbidden, except if expressed as: "O Allah, grant me life as long as life is better for me, and cause me to die if death is better for me," because this entrusts the matter to Allah. A mere fleeting thought of wishing for death is pardoned as long as it is not acted upon or spoken. There is a difference between contemplating suicide, which is a grave sin, and wishing for death as part of Allah's decree. Remember the death of the Prophet, peace be upon him, for his calamity offers solace for every other calamity. And remember your responsibility towards your siblings, seeking reward for upholding ties of kinship and honoring your father.
