What is the ruling on working in a company in Germany until four o'clock on Friday, which makes it impossible to perform Friday prayer due to the mosque's distance?
The inhabitants of cities must strive to attend Jumu'ah prayer when the call for it is made, even if the mosque is far, based on the Almighty’s saying: ﴿O you who have believed, when [the adhan is] called for the prayer on the day of Jumuʿah, then proceed to the remembrance of Allah.﴾ If the home is far, one must strive to go early to catch it. Whoever misses Jumu'ah three times out of negligence, Allah will seal his heart.
If an employer does not permit an employee to go for Jumu'ah, and the employee fears dismissal and damage to his livelihood, then it is permissible for him to miss Jumu'ah and pray Dhuhr, while striving to find another job that does not prevent him from Jumu'ah; this is considered a valid excuse permitting one to miss Jumu'ah and congregational prayer.
