What is the ruling on a man helping a woman who is a stranger to him by offering assistance in her home while he is alone with her?

A man's interaction with a non-mahram woman must be governed by the regulations of Sharia. It is not permissible for him to be in seclusion with a non-mahram woman in her house under the pretext that she has no one to assist her, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "No man should be in seclusion with a woman unless there is a mahram with her." Seclusion with a non-mahram woman is permissible in cases of dire necessity to save her from perishing, but in a populated country, there is no such necessity. If a woman needs the help of a non-mahram man with matters in her house, he should not enter alone; rather, someone whose presence removes the seclusion must enter with him. What this man desires is not permissible, and if he continues to be negligent in this regard, it indicates weakness in his religiosity.
