Is it necessary to rub the limbs of wudu' after applying moisturizer to them, or is merely passing water over them sufficient?

If the moisturizer is thick and prevents water from reaching the limb, it must be removed, ensuring that water reaches the skin by passing the hand over it during washing. However, if it is light and does not prevent water from reaching the limb, then ablution is valid with it present, by pouring water over the limb and ensuring that it reaches all of it.

The Maliki school holds that rubbing the limb (which is passing the hand over the washed limb) is obligatory in Wudu and Ghusl, while the majority of scholars consider it a Sunnah.
