What is the ruling on one who suffers from intermittent and imperceptible drops of urine or prostatic fluid, and post-urination dripping that continues for half an hour, which may lead to missing prayers such as Jumu'ah or the expiration of prayer times? Is one ablution sufficient for both Dhuhr and Asr prayers for someone who woke up after Maghrib? And what is meant by "taking precautions" (al-tahaffuz)?

The person afflicted with سلس (urinary incontinence) should perform ablution (Wudu') after the prayer time has begun and then pray whatever obligatory (fard) and supererogatory (nafl) prayers he wishes with that ablution until the time for that prayer exits. His ablution is not invalidated except by the exiting of the prayer time. The criterion for being afflicted with سلس is that the affected person does not find enough time to perform the prayer with a valid purification. The person afflicted with سلس must take precautions by wrapping a cloth to prevent the spread of impurity, and he is not required to renew this precaution for every prayer unless it comes off. If a person experiences an interruption in urine drops after a period, he must wait until they cease, then perform ablution. However, if he fears that the prayer time will end before the drops cease, then his ruling is the same as that of the person afflicted with سلس.
