Is it permissible to offer money as expiation for the days the husband missed fasting in the last Ramadan due to an accident, given the current difficulty for him to fast in a hot country because of his strenuous work?

If someone has missed several days of Ramadan fasting and is engaged in work that makes fasting difficult, then if he is in need of his work such that if he were to leave it, he would not find what suffices his needs, it is not obligatory for him to make up the fasts now. He is also not liable for the expiation for delaying the make-up fast if the next Ramadan arrives while he is unable to fast due to his work circumstances. However, if he can take leave from his work to fast and this does not affect his livelihood, then he must make up the fasts, and he is liable for the expiation for delaying the make-up fast if the next Ramadan arrives without him having made them up. In the case of inability to fast due to his need for work, the obligation to make up the fasts does not cease; rather, he makes them up whenever he is able to in the future. The expiation (fidya) is not sufficient for him because it is only sufficient for those who are unable to make up the fasts due to an inability that is not expected to cease.
