What is the ruling on making up missed days from Ramadan for several years without remembering their exact number, and is it permissible to pay the fidyah for them in a country other than the country of residence and with a currency other than that of the original country, especially in cases of pregnancy and fear of complications?

The days a wife missed fasting are a debt upon her, and she must make them up; expiation (fidyah (definition)) is not sufficient. If she does not know the number of days, she should try to ascertain them and make up what will ensure certainty or strong probability that she has cleared her liability. She is permitted to delay making up the fasts if she fears harm to herself or her fetus. She must offer expiation (feeding one needy person for each day) in addition to making up the fasts if she delays making them up until after the following Ramadan (definition) without a valid excuse, unless she was ignorant of the impermissibility of delaying, in which case no expiation is required of her. The expiation is to feed one needy person for each day, in any location, and it must be food; its monetary value is not sufficient according to the majority of scholars.
