The answer

Whoever enters into ihram for Hajj on behalf of another is obligated to complete it, for Allah Almighty says: "And complete the Hajj and 'Umrah for Allah." He is not permitted to appoint another to act on his behalf unless his principal had authorized him to do so before entering ihram in case of his incapacitation. If he becomes incapacitated after commencing the rituals, his ruling is that of one who is prevented from proceeding (muhsar); he must release himself by sacrificing a hady (sacrificial animal), and its blood (responsibility) falls upon the one who commissioned him if the proxy was performing voluntarily. The incapacitated person should appoint another individual to perform on his behalf if time permits. It is not a condition for the one who commissions to know the proxy, for Hajj falls under the ruling of ju'alah (a contract of reward). It is not permissible to perform Hajj on behalf of a living person except with their permission.
