What is the ruling on working in the cultivation of grapes designated for alcoholic beverages, and does it invalidate good deeds and fasting after learning of its prohibition?

It is forbidden to work in cultivating grapes from which intoxicants are made, or to sell them, or to prepare them, due to the assistance it provides in committing what is prohibited. Its earnings are unlawful, based on the verse: (And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed ten categories of people related to intoxicants. According to the majority of jurists, sins do not invalidate fasting, but they diminish its reward and may prevent its acceptance. Ibn Hazm, however, held that sins invalidate fasting. The correct view is that of the majority, but unlawful food and drink prevent the acceptance of fasting, supplication, and all other good deeds, based on the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him: (O people, Allah is good and accepts only what is good), and that every body nourished by unlawful means is more deserving of the Fire. Therefore, one must hasten to repent and immediately abandon the forbidden work.
