Is it permissible to buy meat from the butcher with the intention of giving it as fidyah instead of slaughtering a lamb, and is it permissible to eat from the fidyah if it has been slaughtered?

"Doing good deeds protects against evil fates, misfortunes, and ruin. Slaughtering an animal will not avert what has befallen you, as it is from the divine decree. Limiting good deeds here to slaughtering a sheep, to the exclusion of other things, is a mistaken belief, part of innovations and newly invented matters in religion. However, slaughtering for the sake of Allah as a means of feeding the poor, with the intention of warding off future evil fates, is permissible. Nevertheless, it is more meritorious to do other good deeds, such as giving charity to the needy."
